The goldfish, Carassius auratus, was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated, and is still one of the most normally kept aquarium fish and water garden fish. It was first domesticated in China and was introduced to Europe in the late 17th century.

Goldfish can grow to a maximum length of 23 inches (59 cm) and a maximum weight of 9.9 pounds (4.5 kg), though this is rare; few goldfish reach even half this size. The oldest recorded goldfish lived to 49 years, but most household goldfish usually live only six to eight years, due to being kept in bowls. The combined noun for a group of goldfish is a "troubling".

Deforestation

Deforestation is the exchange of forested areas to non-forest land for use such as arable land, pasture, urban use, logged area, or wasteland. Usually, the removal or destruction of significant areas of forest cover has resulted in a degraded environment with reduced biodiversity. In many countries, huge deforestation is ongoing and is shaping climate and geography. Deforestation results from removal of trees without enough reforestation, and results in declines in habitat and biodiversity, wood for fuel and industrial use, and quality of life.
